Intel Science Talent Search (Intel STS) is a science competition that recognizes high school seniors for scientific research and their potential leadership abilities in the scientific community. It is an annual competition that attracts around 1,800 participants from American high schools. Of the 1,800 applicants, 300 are selected as semifinalists, and the top 40 students are selected to visit Washington D.C. to compete for highest honors. Cash prizes are awarded starting from the semifinalists, with increasing rewards the further a student progresses in the competition.
